Week 1 Term 4

The children have been excited about being back at school this week and have enjoyed the interactions with their classmates and teachers.

The warmer and lighter days have added to the feeling that Summer is on the way. In saying this, please ensure your child has sunscreen applied before leaving the house in the morning, and they have a St Andrew's College wide-brimmed or bucket hat available at school every day.

It is a busy term ahead, please keep an eye on what’s scheduled. The beginning of term information from class teachers will have captured most of the planned events and activities.

Year 7 camps started on Monday. 7S returned to school yesterday – they had a fabulous time at Castle Hill.

Grandparents' Day | Friday 25 October, 10.40am

We are looking forward to Grandparents' Day tomorrow. The weather forecast continues to look hopeful – fingers crossed!

We have arranged a Christmas Cake tasting stand outside the Centennial Chapel. This is the PTA's annual Christmas Goodies fundraiser, and after a taste or two, there will be the option to order one of these beautiful cakes or other products for Christmas. The stand will be operational from 10.00am. Payment is required to be made at the time of ordering and EFTPOS will be available.

Following the entertainment, everyone will leave the Centennial Chapel and meet up with the Preparatory and Secondary School children waiting in anticipation outside. There will be a photographer available outside the Senior College (by the Normans Road carpark) to capture this special day for those who would like this option (no charge). Pre-school grandparents will walk to the Pre-school where the children and staff will be waiting.

Grandparents needed to have registered by midday today to attend this event, to ensure their grandchildren’s release from class to meet with them.

Notices

ON CAMPUS SCOOTER RESTRICTIONS

St Andrew’s College has been working closely with Lime and Neuron scooters to ensure the safety of our students and staff. In recent times we have witnessed many unsafe acts and near misses involving our students, and members of public riding these e-scooters and bikes in or around our school.

Effective immediately, Lime and Neuron equipment can no longer enter St Andrew’s College.  A geo-fence has been set-up to prevent these scooters and bikes from physically entering our school, furthermore a speed reduction has been introduced during school hours – this has been applied to Papanui and Normans Road. If anyone attempts to ride into St Andrew’s College, the equipment has been set up to slow down and de-activate.

Both Lime and Neuron have updated their applications – which clearly shows St Andrew’s College as a “no go zone”.  We appreciate your ongoing support, to ensure the safety of all associated with our school.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

From Monday 4 November we will be holding our annual Scholastic Book Fair in the Preparatory School Library.  There will be a fantastic variety of children's books available for purchase and, with Christmas approaching fast, it's a great way to give the gift of reading!

The Book Fair will be open from Monday 4 November to Thursday 7 November, 8.00am–4.00pm. Purchases can be made by credit or debit card only. Please, no cash or cheques. If you are unable to visit the Book Fair, your child can bring home a 'Wishlist' for your approval. You may then complete your credit/debit cards details on the back of the form and return it to the Book Fair with your child to purchase their chosen book(s).

The Scholastic Book Fair is an important event in the Preparatory School calendar, with a generous percentage of sales from this event used to support our very successful Wide Reading programme.

Recipients of the Gold Wide Reading Award for 2024 will receive their book reward at this event. Please note that the last day for submitting a completed Gold Wide Reading Booklet will be Friday 1 November.

Thank you for your support.
