Up to one scholarship covering up to 50 per cent of tuition fees for two years’ education (in Years 7–8) is offered.
Applications are invited from students in Year 6 at the time of application.
Candidates will attend an audition at which they will perform two contrasting pieces (without repeats) from their own repertoire on their musical instrument, and may be required to sing short passages by ear and respond to aural tests of pitch and rhythm.
Applicants must be at grade three, working towards grade four (or have an equivalent verification from a music teacher) to be granted the opportunity of an audition. Preference will be given to students playing instruments other than piano. The College is particularly interested in players of woodwind, brass and string instruments, although the ability to sing and play the piano is an added recommendation.
Auditions will be held on Wednesday 14 May 2025, individual times being communicated in writing.
For any enquiries regarding the suitability of a candidate’s particular musical instrument for this scholarship you should contact Head of Music, Mr Duncan Ferguson, on +64 3 940 2000.
All scholarships are reviewed annually. Scholarship holders will have their conduct and their co-curricular and academic contributions to the College taken into consideration.
Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
