World Vision 40-Hour Famine

As a College, we are supporting World Vision’s 40 Hour Famine (20 hours for primary-aged children). You will be able to support your child’s involvement and challenge by contributing financially – small amounts, gifted by many, will achieve a significant result! The children can participate anytime from this weekend until the end of the upcoming school holidays.

World Vision is a global Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

No need to sign up individually; to access the St Andrew’s College World Vision site to donate please click here

Around the School

Opera

On Thursday, Preparatory School students were treated to a wonderful performance by the New Zealand Opera (NZO). They performed an adaption of The Elixir of Love, by Donizetti. The opera was fast paced and peppered with lots of slap-stick humour. Year 8 teacher, Mason Shaw, made a star appearance in the role of ‘marriage celebrant’. At the end of the performance the students had the opportunity to ask the opera cast questions, including a demonstration of the highest singing note that could be sung by the female lead. The NZO visit has become an annual event and is eagerly anticipated.

Churchie Sports Exchange

Last Sunday, the Preparatory School hosted their friends from 'across the ditch' from Brisbane – Anglican Church Grammar School – known as 'Churchie'.

This was Churchie’s first visit post-COVID, though the two schools had resumed their fixtures in 2023 when St Andrew’s College visited Churchie as part of the 2023 Australian Sports Tour.

The students competed in football, rugby and basketball and enjoyed a lunch together in the boarders' dining room. Churchie also attended the Preparatory School Chapel Service that evening.

A great day of sport for all concerned!
