LogoutAfter a delayed start, due to fog, thirty-two Year 7–8 children and six staff arrived in Brisbane, three days later than planned. The all-girl contingent is across three sporting codes – netball, basketball and hockey.
The travelling teams, who return to Christchurch tonight, have thoroughly enjoyed the competitive sport, comradeship, and the experience of being on tour, and of course the warm and sunny weather. There have been many excellent results. Congratulations to the girls on their individual and collective successes.
Sincere thanks to the accompanying staff who not only coached the teams but also provided wonderful care and support to the girls. Thanks also to Head of Sport, Mr Kelley, who masterminded every detail of the trip and ensured an action-packed and memorable experience.
We are delighted to have the Life Education van visiting us for two weeks. It is situated in a new place this year, beside the College Shop.
Life Education began in Christchurch in 1988 in a static classroom and has evolved to operate three mobile classrooms with four qualified Life Education Educators. Life Education Trust Canterbury delivers the Life Education programme as far as the Hurunui District through to the Rakaia Region, reaching up to 20,000 children each year in 80 different primary and intermediate schools in Canterbury.
Being a health resource, Life Education works with the children through five subject strands: self-esteem, food and nutrition, body knowledge, social relationships, and substances. Exploring these strands helps them to understand the wonder of their own bodies, and how best to take care of them.
The Trust relies mostly on fundraising activities to deliver the programme to the Canterbury Community each year.
The school received the following information from Health New Zealand this week. The poster below provides information and guidance for choosing the correct path for supporting family health needs.

The competition emphasises performance, personal growth and community in The Arts. Well done to all the participants.
Artem Kutovoy (Year 8) competed in the 2024 South Island Short Track Ice Speed Skating Championships, which was hosted in Dunedin during the last weekend of the holidays. Artem achieved a very commendable third place in his grade in short track speed skating. This accomplishment is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport.
