End of Term 2 – revised finish time

Please note Term 2 concludes on Friday 30 June at 3.20pm, and there will be Afterschool Care available until 5.20pm.

Congratulations to the children in Thompson House, they are the winner of the end of Term 2 StAC-Up House competition. The children will be able to wear casual wear next Thursday 29 June, with a little or lot of green.

Ongoing Enrolment in the Preparatory School

Please ensure you inform us promptly if your child(ren) will be leaving the Preparatory School at the end of the year. Early disclosure is important to the School so we can use the waitlist in a timely manner. To avoid a fee penalty, a full term’s notice needs to be given.

Although the Preparatory School currently has a healthy waitlist across all year levels for 2024, this number will steadily reduce as we track towards the end of the year.

Parent Interviews | Monday 24 July – Thursday 27 July (Week 2, Term 3)

This year the interviews will be spread over four days and will be face-to-face only.

Please note, all Years 4–8 children are required to attend the interviews. Please contact Reception if you experience any difficulty making a booking. Bookings will close Friday 21 July.

If there is no suitable time available for you, please contact your child’s class teacher directly (via email) and another day and time will be arranged.

KPA Jayden

DANCE

Jayden Lai (Year 7) will be featuring in a new dance show, KPA Battle Squad. The show will be launching on TVNZ2, on Monday 26 June 3.30pm and On Demand TVNZ+ and TVNZ+ kids.

KPA Battle Squad features children aged seven to 17 who do street dance styles and compete in Dance Battles. There are eight 15-minute episodes and each episode is accompanied by eight five-minute tutorials/lessons by some of the best street dancers in New Zealand, which enable children to learn the dance styles and practice. This might be a great option for an interactive activity over the holidays for those wanting to cheer Jayden on or get involved in Breaking, Krump, Popping, Locking, Waacking, House and Hip-Hop Freestyle!

This photo was taken on the KPA Battle Squad set. Jayden will also be on What Now this Sunday demonstrating his B-boy skills.

CPSSA Cross Country

Numbers ranged in each race, however, the students were amazed to find out that they were competing against at least 150 other students from the region. Wow!

10 students from the Preparatory School competed at this event and represented our zone.

These students were: Hayley Stowell, Eva Crawford, Willim Fowler, Oliver Julius, Riley Pringle, Isla Marshall, Sabine Waghorn, Tayla Ford, Isabelle Greer and Kobe Ford.

I was pleased with the attitudes of our Cross Country Team and their willingness to ‘do their best on the day’. This started with time management, warming up, nutrition and being fully present in the race by giving it their all.

Results:

  • Top 10 Finish: Isabelle Greer Year 6 Girls (7th Overall) – 00:08:36; Tayla Ford Year 7 Girls (10th Overall) – 00:13:22;
  • Top 20 Finish: Hayley Stowell Year 8 Girls (11th Overall) – 13:03; Sabine Waghorn Year 7 Girls (13th Overall) – 00:13:33; Isla Marshall Year 7 Girls (18th Overall) – 00:13:52;
  • Top 50 Finish: Willim Fowler Year 8 Boys (22nd Overall) – 00:12:04; Oliver Julius Year 8 Boys (34th Overall) – 00:12:16; Eva Crawford Year 8 Girls (48th Overall) – 00:14:07.

Well done to the final Cross Country Team of 2023, you all deserve an excellent rest and recovery.

ARTS IN ACTION

Congratulations to the Year 7–8 students and staff who were involved in a wonderful showcase of the arts in the Centennial Chapel last night. The wide-ranging performances were enjoyed by the audience and clearly the children enjoyed their involvement. The cleverly crafted pottery chameleons were a treat.

Sincere thanks to Performing Arts Co-ordinator and Dance and Drama Specialist, Ginnie Thorner, who co-ordinated the evening.

On Sunday, the Preparatory School held their second Sunday service of the year. It was a wonderful service which was well supported by the Preparatory School students and families.

Thank you to all those involved, in particular the contribution by the Junior choir and Cantare choir.

The next Preparatory School service will be in Term 4, on Sunday 3 December.
